I had visited Gatlinburg with my sister for many years on our Fall foliage trips. The people were always friendly and we enjoyed our shopping excursions to various shops. We always left with a car full of crafts and other goodies we bought there. I have many fond memories of driving home with unique brooms taking up the interior of my car.
We stayed in pigeon forge, im glad we did. Gatlinburg is set up to suck your money. The town is packed like a can of sardines, nowhere to park and im not paying 10, 15, or 24 dollars to park! Go see Sevierville and Pigeon Forge instead.
Stay strong. Things will get better in time.
Gatlinburg is beautiful, obviously. Visiting the city is fun. Driving around the area is breath taking. Know what else takes your breath? The city's smoking policy. Apparently you have to be a smoker to visit Gatlinburg, or at least it seems that way. You guys really need to clean that smack up because I'm probably not the only one visiting less frequently as a result of the smoke. You can't walk downtown 5 feet without seeing a smoker and there's just no avoiding the smoke in such close quarters! Jesus, people, it's 2016!
I am sending my love and prayers to the citizens and visitors of Gatlinburg who were affected by the recent fires. I had wanted to write something days ago, but could not find the right words to say because I was in disbelief as to what occurred. Even now, I am still shocked by what happened.
I am so sorry for the loss of life and property in your town. I know that it will take a long time to recover and rebuild, but it will happen.
