The View, and the peaceful sounds of the Mountains inspired us. Metro Outdoor Ed on our 14 day summer school adventure, visiting National Parks and historic sites all the way to Cape Cod National Seashore. 3278 miles all together, significant learning and fun had on this trip.

A long hike...not for small children great for our teenagers....and the view.....awesome!
Awesome hike!!! Definitely recommend...however, it's not for the weak hearted. If you leave from the Newfound Gap parking lot it's a grind right off the bat, then levels out after a bit of a sweat and some tears, perhaps for some...blood. Breaking my new boots, got a bit of a blister on my back heel, not complaining about it one bit. Take the Second grey gravel trail after the main entrance to go to the higher peak, then climb down the front if your a true thrill seeker.
Appalachian Trail north. No signs for this trail until you get 2.7 miles in. The trail is 4.4 miles one way or 8.8 total. The first mile or more is a step accent. Not bad from there. An amazing view at the end. Have fun. Being water!
What an amazing view of the park! The 4 mile (8 round-trip) hike on the Appalachian Trail is well worth the view. Right before we were ready to head back, the clouds moved in and we couldn't see anything- which was still really cool!
