This is unacceptable by any standards. The kids who were hurt agreed to policies and standards in waiver. The staff knowingly allowed people and themselves to violate that agreement which makes the facility liable and should pay any and all medical bills related to those injuries.
If they drove hundreds of miles to cheat you can bet they are cheating at home in their own league as well.
We took our 5/6 year old team her to play in the Thanksgiving bowl. During this time we played and won against two teams that are in our league division at home. We traveled 5 hours to play here. Upon arrival all children had to be present Wednesday evening for weigh ins and all coaches had to attend a coaches meeting. On Friday the Atlanta Chargers arrived. They were given a special weigh in and their coaches did not attend a meeting at all. We watched them play the Cramerton Panthers the day before we were supposed to play them. We went to the tournament directors immediately following the game and demanded roster checks, told them about helmet to helmet contact, and how the kids appeared to be much older than 5/6. We were told that was unacceptable and they would take care of it. The next day during our championship game we were met with a quick roster check, forged documents and armed police officers. Tournament officials told us we could play or forfeit, so our boys played these kids that were 2-3 years older. We only “lost” by 6 points but we would have enjoyed a fairly played tournmanet, not a tournament that exploited our children to simply make more money. Cheaters never win Atlanta Chargers!
Great facility 4 multiple sporting events. Easy access and plenty of parking
Very disappointed in the unprofessional way of doing business here. My son played in a tournament here over the Thanksgiving holiday. He is on a 5/6 team. This organization allowed a team to play 8 year olds against our team. Imagine your 5 year old against an 8 year old! These kids were not only bigger but were also playing with illegal equipment. In addition to that, this particular team is allowed to return year after year despite similar issues and coaches being ejected from the games. What kind of examples are we really setting for these children? This game was completely wrong and a safety issue for our boys. When approached about the issue the organization admitted to the wrong doing, but made no attempt to make it right. As a matter of fact they were extremely rude and laughed at our concerns as if it were a joke. Our boys should have had the opportunity to play in the championship game. I feel like my child was let down by grown men and women who should have known (and done) better.
It's sad enough Atlanta Chargers were given special treatment, allowed to cheat by using older kids than division they were playing in, and even worse that coaching staff, parents, and facility staff allowed this to happen. There where kids hurt by these practices that were knowingly allowed to continue play. Everyone they played should be refunded money and travel expenses for violation of agreement. That team should be banned from any tournament play anywhere for 1-2 yrs until they become compliant with league and tournament rules as well as coaches should do community service to learn values once again.
We went to Rocky Top for the Turkey Bowl and was extremely disappointed not only did the game times keep changing but the 5-6yr old ended up playing a 8u team... My little boy got poked in the same eye 4 times to the point that he couldn't not open his eye all the way (weird it happens 4 times in the same eye in that short of time frame but hey i guess it could happen right) when we disputed the ages to Rocky Top the admitted that we played a 8U team but said sorry nothing they can do about it that we are out for the championship. Then they let the 5-6 team from the same group of the 8u play in the championship how is this right they didn't beat us the 8u did.. we address the concern that the kids could have been hurt to Rocky Top and was laughed at. If this is the type of thing you guys promote we wont be back.. this was suppose to be fun for the kids and i don't see how playing kids that much bigger and older is fun i know my son hated it. When he seen the kids playing for the championship he looked at me and said mom that is not the team I played why are they smaller.. Try explaining that to a child.. Thank you Rocky Top for teaching my child at such a young age how dirty people can be and how people can cheat and not be honest and get away with it.. and how being honest and working hard sometimes gets you nothing in the world.
