Saw this show on Thanksgiving day. It was AWESOME. If you have ever been to NYC this is like an off Broadway gem. If your lucky like I was you may be part of the show. It's not a fancy theatre but it's the laughs and the memories you will have make up for that.
Although I grew up in the Knoxville area, I just experienced Sweet Fanny Adams for he first time two weeks ago. I visited with a large group of friends and expected a good show but boy, was I surprised! The show wasn't good at all.... it was GREAT! We were blown away with the copious amount of talent that came from a cast of only four people! Singing, dancing, comedy, clowning, juggling, this show has it all and there was never a dull moment.
Very enjoyable show. Small intimate theater. I laughed so much. The small group of actors were just terrific. Lighting & sound excellent for this size theater. I thought the first half was done well but the 2nd half was even better & funnier. I hadn't seen much about the show and had gone with a group. It is in Gatlinburg but on the edge of town and fairly nondescript from the outside. I have to say I was wowed by the talent and so amused by the show itself. A laugh outloud experience.
I have loved this show since I first experienced it over 10 years ago when I was in high school. This is not a tourist show, but a REAL theatre experience. If you are traveling, this just may be the highlight of your trip. If you are a local, you will come back to see every show. Long live real theatre!!!
But their talent didn't end there because it seemed that every person in the cast pulled double or triple duty to ensure a successful night. The cast members were out front before the show acting as both the marketing team and the ushers. After the show was over, they were out front taking pictures and selling merch. And while I can't be sure, I think it's possible that the sound/light engineer was also the same person who was selling copies of the DVDs after the show and they worked concessions during intermission as well! True hospitality from start to finish... bravo!
Spanning two generations, there's a reason this family owned theater is still around to celebrate 40 years of life on the Gatlinburg strip. It truly is a local treasure, but you really should just go see for yourself!
We went to the vaudeville style show, which had a little something for everything. Their short Shakespeare bits were hilarious. Some adult humor, but mostly done in a way that those not "old enough" just wouldn't get it. Be warned that, if you order advanced tickets online, they have to be picked up from a ticket-vendor in Pigeon Forge, which is a pain if you're already in Gatlinburg.
